President: John Villanueva
Since joining in 2016, John Villanueva has always been passionate about the COOL's Pro-Life mission. Currently a senior at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, he looks forward to studying at Texas A&M this coming fall. John's favorite events are both MOTSY and the COOL's trip to Washington DC for the March for Life. In his free time, he enjoys riding his bike, designing websites, coding apps, directing short films, and spending time with friends. John is the 6th person to serve as President of the COOL since its inception in 2007.
Vice President: Omar Shurbaji
Omar joined the COOL in 2017 because he wanted to make an impact on both the people of his time (those in the womb and outside), but also on those who of the future, by cultivating a culture that never stops seeing the value of every human being. Omar is currently a homeschooled high school senior that attends the Holy House Academy and Houston Community College. He loves music and is involved in some of the numerous choirs at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham. In his free time, Omar enjoys reading philosophy, theology (especially John Paul II), and science books to further his life as a Catholic and to aid him in understanding the value in everyone (i.e. both himself and you). He loves MOTSY (March of the Surviving Youth) and intends to bring his experience and inspiration from this event and his pro-life passion to wherever he may end up studying Engineering. Unlike Haley, he did not plagiarize his bio from the president.
Vice President: Haley Wingate
Since joining in 2015, Haley has considered the COOL group to be a second family to her. Previously home-schooled, she is now a sophomore at Lone Star College and plans on transferring to Texas A&M University. Haley’s favorite COOL event is the Washington D.C. trip also loves the annual summer weekend retreat COOL By The Bay. Infamously known for her quirky sense of humor, she makes sure there is never a dull moment. Besides the Pro-Life cause, her other interests include philosophy, drawing, and reading. Her motto is “What I lack in talent I make up for with enthusiasm!” Haley shamelessly copied the style of the president's bio while writing her own bio.
Secretary: Natalia Shurbaji
Natalia Shurbaji joined the COOL in May of 2017. Later that summer she was elected Secretary for the COOL. She is a homeschooled sophomore student, and attends Holy House Academy. Natalia is an active member in the various choir groups at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham and would like to peruse music in the future. She is very passionate about advocating for life and being a voice for the unborn. When she is not active she enjoys needlepoint, tea, and watching old classic movies with her family.
Treasurer: Luis Morales-Wade
Luis Morales-Wade was born in Houston, Texas in 2001 and has been an altar server since he was 7. His passion to defend life started early in life but it wasn’t until he was 15 that joined COOL, since then he has attended MOTSY, and joined half a million last February at the March for Life in Washington DC. He lives in Katy, Texas with his parents and his 5 siblings. He is currently the treasurer for COOL.
Bay Area COOL President: Claire Dunne
I'm in 9th grade and started the BAC (Bay Area COOL), a chapter of the COOL youth group in Clear Lake about a year ago. I decided to start this group because some of my friends and I were interested in joining the Houston COOL, but their meetings were too far away from Clear Lake for us to be able to attend. BAC started out slow but now there are around 20-30 members from Bay area and the surrounding areas of Clear Lake. We do service projects around Clear Lake, have fun get togethers, and recently we attended the Austin march for Life. I'm the "president" of the Bay Area cool, I've been homeschooled my whole life, I have 8 other siblings and I'm part of the Pro-Life generation!
